N.B. Walasse Ting was committed to Abstract Expressionism well beyond its heyday, and created a uniquely lighthearted version of it. His use of DayGlo colors and luscious subjects were joyful and life-affirming, and presented a more innocent picture of the world than his close friends Karel Appel and Pierre Alechinsky. Ting's world was one of life's simple pleasures and natural wonders--a summer rainstorm, a field of flowers, or constellations in the sky--such as in the present work.
