Unsigned, with a label from James Bourlet and Sons, London, affixed underneath the
plinth.
Cast aluminum, 25 x 25 × 9 1/2 in. (63.5 x 63.5 × 24.0 cm),mounted to a stone plinth.
Condition: Minor surface grime.

Provenance: Property of the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard Art Museum, sold to benefit the acquisition fund.

N.B. The present work shows the influence of Kenneth Armitage, who mentored Dalwood between 1946 and 1949 at the Bath Academy of Art in Corsham, England. The work's title was inspired by Dalwood's tour of Tuscany in 1958, where he visited the town as well as Piacenza, Pisa, Lerici, Florence, and Volterra. (1) The present work is one of a projected edition of six, with one cast in the Tate Collection and two known casts in private collections. (2)
