One of Hawaii's best known and loved songwriters and performers, Alvin K. Isaacs composed more than 300 songs including "Nalani" which became a recorded favorite of Nat "King" Cole. He was an original member of the "Royal Hawaiians" house band of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
The inscription on the guitar case is thought to refer to Don McDiarmid Sr. , bandleader and successor to Harry Owens at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
