Roosevelt, Franklin Delano (1882-1945) Signed Typewritten Speech, 1936. Roosevelt's acceptance of the Democratic nomination for President of the United States, delivered at the Democratic National Convention, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June, 27th, 1936; five pages, with approximately sixteen corrections to the text, and one redacted sentence, all in blue pencil, stapled at the top edge, with tape remnants, and an added strip of paper reinforcing the stapled area on the blank verso of the last sheet, 8 x 14 in.
Roosevelt closes with the following dramatic statement, typed in all caps at the end of the speech, on the fifth page, "I accept the commission you have tendered me I join with you. I am enlisted for the duration of the war", followed by a bold signature in blue ink.
