Polychrome Painted Grover Cleveland Presidential Campaign Drum, America, c. 1884, large bass drum with red-painted bentwood lap-seam body with black-painted hoops, decorated with a large green five-point star and a white circle centering a peephole with no visible label, surrounded by thirty-three smaller green stars, two small American flags, and "G. CLEAVELAND" (misspelled with backwards "N") in gilt lettering within a green rectangle, accompanied by pair of leather-tipped drumsticks, (minor paint wear),wd. 24, dia. 25 1/2 in.
Provenance: Formerly in the Clark Garrett collection.
