Portrait of the Bark Anna ReynoldsLeaving Marseilles, 1839. Signed and dated 1839 l.r. Watercolor on paper, 18 1/4 x 26 1/8 in., in a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Paper applied to paperboard, toning, scattered foxing, trimmed, lower edge touched up.
Note: The bark Anna Reynolds was built in 1838, in Lewiston, Delaware. She weighed 197 tons. She later became a mining company bark, trading between San Francisco via Cape Horn, Talcahuano, the Sandwich Islands, and other ports.
