Description:

Three Nautical Navigation Instruments, late 19th/early 20th century, a mahogany cased "Sestral" hand-bearing compass, model no. 1671, made by Henry Browne & Son, Ltd., Barking & London, with sighting prism, with maker's name impressed on painted brass head and ivorine plaque affixed to the glass on the lid of the hinged case, ht. approx. 10 1/4; a "HUSUN" cased sextant, made by Henry Hughes & Son Ltd., London, brass with black finish, with bronze arc inset with a silver dial calibrated from 5-0-130 degrees, the arc with impressed "H. Hughes & Son Ltd. London," "Made in England," and model no. "29177," the arm with brass "HUSUN" trademark disk, the underside fitted with a Bakelite battery case for a small light attachment, mounted in a dovetailed mahogany case, interior cover with brass-framed maker's condition remarks, approx. 8 3/4 x 9 1/2; and a cased "Walker's "Excelsior IV Ship-Log" (outrigger pattern),by Thomas Walker & Son, England, used to estimate the speed of a vessel through water, in a dovetailed pine case, with maker's paper labels and instructions affixed to the front and interior lid of the box; box ht. 5 1/2, wd. 7 1/4, lg. 15 in.

compass- appears to be in good condition, some scattered corrosion, not sure if any parts are missing; sextant- the case is cracked on lid, probably needs oiling and cleaning, includes a key, loose telescope element, eyepiece segment, and a bottle of oil; Ship-log- appears to be complete, some corrosion to brass, probably needs oiling.
