"Hardy," framed, a handwritten note on the reverse identifies the subject and notes that she was the wife of Pliny Dwight Parsons, and died during the birth of her son Joseph Wise T. Parsons, board 27 x 21 5/8 in.

Note: Jeremiah Hardy was born in Pelham, New Hampshire, moving with his parents to Hampden, Maine, in 1811. After studying in Boston, he returned to Hampden. He lived briefly in Bangor, Maine, but returned to Hampden, where he remained until his death.
