Signed and dated "STEINBERG 1960" u.l., stamped "Copyright/by Saul Steinberg/All
rights reserved" and "THE NEW YORKER EDITORIAL DEPARTMENT..." on the reverse, identified on a label from Obelisk Gallery, Boston, affixed to the backing.
Ink and crayon on Strathmore paper, sheet size 11 5/16 x 14 3/8 (28.4 x 36.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Taped to linen-covered mat along top edge, subtle acid burn, trimmed sheet, glue and tape residue verso, pencil crop marks l.l. and l.r.

Provenance: Purchased from Obelisk Gallery on January 2, 1968.

N.B. A copy of the book Steinberg: The New World, New York: Harper and Row, 1965, and a copy of the Obelisk Gallery sales invoice accompany the lot.

Handling creases, taped along top edge verso to linen-covered mat, subtle acid burn from tape, deckled right edge, unevenly trimmed bottom edge, no additional condition issues to report.
