An Old Prospector. Signed "R. Farrington Elwell" in pencil l.l., titled in pencil l.c., signed "Elwell" in the plate l.r., identified on a label from Jeff Dykes/Western Books, College Park, Maryland, affixed to the frame backing paper. Etching on paper, plate size 4 1/4 x 8 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Toning, mat burn, subtle rippling, not examined out of frame.

Provenance: From the estate of Gerald and Martha Schipper.

N.B. The label on the reverse, dated 3/31/76, was signed by Jeff Dykes, recording the following, "This etching was bought from R. Farrington (Bob) Elwell, the artist. So far as Bob could recollect he had made only three etchings and had only one copy of each of two of them left. In 1959 bought them both."
