Set of Eighteen Georg Jensen Sterling Side Plates, 1915-32, designed by Johan Rohde, no. 587B, with light overall hammered surface, dia. 6 in., approx. 92 troy oz.

Provenance: All engraved to underside with owner's name, "Gordon Mendelssohn," the name of his yacht, "Quartermore," and six dated 1940, twelve dated 1936. These plates were part of a suite of Jensen tableware used on the vessel. Mendelssohn was a wealthy notable in Detroit, Michigan, and a patron of the arts. The Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre at the University of Michigan was built through a donation Mendelssohn's in honor of his mother.
