Small Silver Bell with Engraved Memorial, John Mood (1816-1864),Charleston, South Carolina, c. 1848, the bell with memorial engraving "In Memory of Our Dear Emily/The beginning (26th Nov 1847) and the end (9th Ap'l 1848) of a Dream," and embellished with an engraved family crest, and scrolled foliage, maker's mark impressed "J MOOD" in a rectangle, ht. 3 1/2 in.

Provenance: The bell is reportedly in memory of the daughter of Rear Admiral Andrew H. Foote, by family descent.
