Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669)

The Presentation in the Temple: Oblong Plate, c. 1639 (Bartsch/Hollstein, 49 ii/iii; Hind, 162). Unsigned. Etching with drypoint on laid paper with partial Strasbourg lily watermark, plate size 8 3/8 x 11 3/8 in. (21.4 x 28.7 cm), matted, unframed.
Condition: Thread margins, subtle toning/soiling, annotations to the reverse.

Provenance: A Rhode Island estate.
Estimate $3,000-5,000

The sheet measures 8 1/2 x 11 7/16 inches, and is hinged at the upper corners. The impression is fine and clear, and slightly dry. There is a subtle, small tear (less than1/8 in. [0.2 cm] long) upper left corner
