Portrait Miniature of a Child Wearing a Blue Dress, Clarissa Peters Russell (American, 1809-1854),watercolor on ivory, c. 1840, depicting a bust-length oval portrait of the child wearing a light blue dress with white lace trim on the neckline, a coral necklace, and holding a bouquet of flowers, 2 1/8 x 1 3/4 in., housed in a period oval molded wood frame. Condition: Paint losses on flowers and dress.

A few minute specks of paint losses on the child's dress: upper rt. facing bodice, rt. facing sleeve and a couple on the lower portion of the dress, and a few fine cracks in the paint on the lower right bodice of her dress. There is a large loss of paint on the flowers. No evidence of cracks to the ivory. Top of ivory plaque is slightly bowed.
