N.B. Richard Kugler has kindly contributed the following paragraph:
"During the early years of his career as an artist, Bradford made six summer visits to the coast of Labrador, finding there a steady flow of icebergs and the primitive housing of its native inhabitants. He would later undertake an even bolder venture in the steam-powered vessel Panther which carried two photographers who took some of the earliest photographs of the Arctic scene."
