Connecticut Carved White Oak Box, attributed to Thomas Barber Sr., Windsor, Connecticut, before 1663, rectangular box with step-ogee molding, the interior and exterior lid centered with a circular flower head, the outer and inner lid and outer sides decorated with carved interlocked arcades within scribed borders with lobed, circular, and spade elements; cut sheet brass cotter-pin hinges, the interior bottom lined with indigo-dyed waxed linen, (lacking handle and lock),ht. 4 3/8, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 5 1/4 in.
