N.B.The beaches of San Juan, Puerto Rico left a lasting impression on Reba Stewart, who vacationed there regularly between 1963 and her untimely death in 1971. Reba was fascinated by the local driftwood, which she would assemble into mobiles and ship back to her studio in Baltimore, Maryland. (1) The present work relates to a series of works inspired by Puerto Rico which explore the fluctuating boundaries between land, sky, and sea.
