Wild Dayrell, Winner of the Derby, 1855
Signed "H. Alken" l.l., identified on labels from Vicars Brothers, London, and with
labels from Kennedy Galleries, Inc., New York, affixed to the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 12 x 20 in. (30.5 x 50.8 cm), framed.
Condition: Craquelure, retouch, varnish inconsistencies.



Estimate $6,000-8,000

Fine craquelure, strip lined on right and left tacking margins, light washes of older retouch to sky area with the largest area approx. 2 1/2 x 9 in. to the sky behind the jockey, scattered dots of older retouch to l.l. quadrant in grass area.
