Portrait of a Gentleman. Unsigned. Oil on canvas applied to Masonite, c. 1820, 26 x 21 in., in a period molded giltwood frame. Condition: Scattered retouch, repaired tears.
Estimate $1,200-1,800

In raking light some tears are evident at u.r. background and l.r. coat, but were applied to masonite backing. Masking varnish applied overall but some evidence of retouch shows on face.
