Portrait Miniature of a Young Woman, attributed to Clarissa Peters Russell (American, 1809-1854),watercolor on ivory, c. 1840, depicting an oval bust-length portrait of the woman wearing a dark blue dress with white lace trim on the neckline and wearing a brooch, 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 in., housed in a gilded copper locket case with chased bezel and hanger, engine-turned back with empty small chased bezel compartment, above an oval reserve engraved "H. E. Davis." Condition: Pigment migration c.l. background.
