Attributed to Carolus L.Weyts (Antwerp, Belgium act. 1860s-1870s)

"Bark Belvedere of Boston. Cap't H.C. Flinn. Passing Ostend 1867." Unsigned, vessel identified on pennant, starboard, and painted inscription below. Oil on canvas, depicting the American vessel as it travels through the Belgian port of Ostend, 25 x 32 1/2 in., in original cast gilt gesso frame. Condition: Relined, very minor retouch.

Note: Captain Henry Clay Flinn lived, died, and is buried in Chatham, Mass.
Estimate $30,000-50,000

Painting cleaned and lined, sparsely scattered tiny spots of retouch.
