Artist Designed 23kt Gold Pendant/Brooch, Jean Cocteau, cast with a figure seen in profile among scrolls, lg. 2 1/4 in., 21/50, nos. 2778 and 1483, signed Jean Cocteau, maker's mark PH for Pierre Hugo, Aix-en-Provence, French guarantee stamps, within original fitted wooden box.

Note: Although remembered primarily as an avant-garde filmmaker, Jean Cocteau (1889-1963) was accomplished in many fields on artistic endeavor, including poetry, fiction, illustration, drama and ballet. A figure at the center of the artistic community in Paris in the teens and 20s, he collaborated with Edith Piaf, Sergei Diaghilev, and Erik Satie.
