John Polsey Mahogany Astronomical Regulator Clock, Boston, movement c. 1840, a quality bench-made replica case with hinged bezel, lower glazed trefoil door and side lites, mirrored backboard, recessed panels in the base section with crotch mahogany veneer all on a flat base, a replica 16 1/4-inch dia. silvered brass engraved dial with outer minutes, upper subsidiary seconds dial, the lower 24 hour dial calibrated twice in Roman numerals I-XII, engraved John Polsey, Boston, Mass., period eight-day movement with club-tooth escape wheel, dead-beat escapement, maintaining power, beveled gearing and steel shaft for winding position through the hood, the front plate stamped J. Polsey, Boston and 1, four faceted glass jar temperature compensating pendulum and brass cased weight, ht. 88 in.
