Case Containing U.S. Civil War Era Naval Dress Uniform Items, Warnock & Co., New York, third quarter 19th century, the velvet-lined leather covered case with Warnock & Co. manufacturer's label inside lid, containing hats and accessories including a felted beaver fur folding cocked cap with gilt-brass American eagle and shield cap plate and gilt brass button on the cockade and gilt-metal tassels; a wool kepi hat with leather sweatband, leather-covered bill, gilt-metal trim, small gilt-brass eagle and shield buttons, and gilt-metal embroidered American eagle and shield, both hats with gilt manufacturer's trademark on interior lining, "The Warnock Co./ Established 1838/304 Fifth Avenue New York," two shoulder boards with gilt-metal oak leaves and border, an epaulet with gilt-metal oak leaves and cross, a silver fob engraved "S. Q. Robinson, U.S.A.," and four leather straps, (wear),case 14 1/2 x 20 1/2 in.

Probably naval uniform as cocked hats were worn on formal naval occasions. The case (brown leather covered cardboard) has worn areas and stains most worn areas around the edges, some worn and/ or moth-eaten spots on the hat.
