Paint and Gilt Decorated Pine Box, America, early 19th century, rectangular box with hinged lid, the cover with a faux tortoise shell surface centered with two gilt hearts, the sides painted brown with red striping and gilt borders, the interior top fitted with a mirror and lined with pleated silk, ht. 4 5/8, wd. 11, dp. 8 1/2 in.
