N.B. Spanish-born artist Angel Botello spent the majority of his career living and working in the Caribbean. After the Spanish Civil War, Botello moved to the Dominican Republic where he was warmly received by the Caribbean art world as well as exiled Spanish artists. He worked in Puerto Rico, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, where he was influenced by both the visual elements and spirituality of island life.
