Hunting the Raccoon, alternatively titled The Coon Hunt
Dedicated and signed "To my friend Tarbell, J. Alden Weir" u.l., a label from the
Coe Kerr Gallery, New York, and a letter from the great-grandson of Edmund Tarbell, William Tarbell, affixed to the backing, purportedly inscribed on the stretcher "Edmund C. Tarbell, Tavern Club, Boston."
Oil on canvas, 25 x 20 in. (63.5 x 50.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.
Provenance: The artist to Edmund C. Tarbell by gift, then by descent to William Tarbell, through to the present owner.
