His graceful depictions of the female form epitomize the French Academic style in the late 19th century. Seignac was trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he studied with William A. Bouguereau and mastered figure drawing. Although he was most influenced by the work of Bouguereau, Seignac went on to study with Anthony Robert-Fleury and Gabriel Ferrier. Seignac's romantic images of an idealized beauty grew exceedingly popular throughout his career and he exhibited regularly at the Salons.
