Large Mandoline Part-Overture Musical Box by Paillard, playing William Tell and five other airs, with mandoline teeth in groups of up to five, in bookmatched burr-walnut veneered case with boxwood stringing, pewter stringing to inside lid, tulipwood banding, and ebonized borders, wd. 25, cylinder 13 x 3 1/4 in., (extreme bass tip off).

Note: A movement of overture size and quality, there are approximately 123 teeth in the comb; tunes are pinned to play for around one minute and thirty seconds. The tunes are: "William Tell Overture", a Strauss waltz (possibly the from Tales of Vienna Woods),an aria from Rigoletto, the "Jolly Miner's Return Home", "La Fille de Madame Favard", and a march.
