Mills & Co., Belleville, N.J., c. 1842-1844, the mahogany veneered case with green paper lining the inside and printed maker's label stating Crane's Patent Month Clocks..., grain painted and gilt half columns flank the door with etched glass tablet enclosing a pressed brass gilt dial surround, paper under glass dial marked J.R. Mills & Co., Belleville, N.J.--A.D. Crane's Patent, all housing a brass, compound weight driven, time and strike movement with "daisy-cam" motion work, "walking" escapement and single-ball pendulum, one of only two examples extant, ht. 22 1/2 in.
