Rare Federal Mahogany Inlaid Sofa, probably Salem, Massachusetts, c. 1790, the serpentine back with flanking outward-scrolling arms with concave fronts and serpentine seat rail resting on square tapering string-inlaid frontal legs and square raking rear legs, ht. 36 1/2, lg. 85, dp. 28, seat ht. 19 in.
Provenance: Roland Hammond, North Andover, Massachusetts, who purchased it from the Putnam Family of Dedham, Massachusetts.
