Small Grenfell Hooked Picture Mat with Polar Bear, attributed to Grenfell Labrador Industries, Newfoundland and Labrador, early 20th century, the rectangular mat composed of bleached and dyed rayon, cotton, and silk strips hooked onto a burlap backing, depicting a polar bear on an ice floe in a northern landscape, executed in shades of brown, off-white, blue, and black, with apricot and tan borders, mounted on a wooden stretcher, 9 3/4 x 13 3/4 in.
