Molded Copper and Cast Lead Centaur Weather Vane, attributed to A.L. Jewell & Co., Waltham, Massachusetts, 1852-1867, the flattened full-body figure drawing a bow and arrow with molded sheet copper tail, the surface with vestiges of yellow sizing, gilt, verdigris, and black paint, (repairs),ht. 32 1/4, wd. 39 1/4 in.

Provenance: Benjamin A. Green, Lexington, Massachusetts.

Literature: A similar vane attributed to A.L. Jewell is illustrated in The Art of the Weathervane by Steve Miller, Schiffer Publishing Ltd., Exton, Pennsylvania, p. 66.
