After Thomas Cole (1801-48)

Allegorical Picture. From the Voyage of Life, an allegorical series, painted by Cole in the late 1830s, this pastel and charcoal on sandpaper, 1840-40, depicts a scene with Youth waving good-bye in a boat on a body of water with a Classical building in the background, ht. 13 1/2, wd. 18 in (sight),in original giltwood frame. Condition: minor foxing and small water stain.
