Whipping in the Straggler
Signed "-REMINGTON-" l.r., label from Cooley Gallery, Connecticut, on the
reverse.
Pen and ink with watercolor and gouache (en grisaille) on paper, sight size 13 1/4 x 7 3/4 in. (33.6 x 19.6 cm), framed.
Condition: Foxing, not examined out of frame.

Provenance: A private Washington DC collection, circa 1930.

N.B. In discussing this work Hassrick and Webster note that "in a November 20, 1891 letter to Powhatan Clarke, Remington wrote that he did a page on hunting with the Westchester hounds. The article subsequently appeared in Harper's Weekly".
