THE "LIGHTNING EXPRESS" TRAINS. "Leaving the Junction." 1863, (Conningham, 3535). Identified by inscriptions in the matrix. Lithograph with hand-coloring on paper, sheet size 24 1/2 x 32 1/4 in., in a molded maple frame. Condition: Margins of 2 1/4 in. or more, tear l.r. corner, toning, old ink inscription on verso slightly visible on l.r. margin.

Note: This lithograph ranked no. 7 of the original "Best 50," and no. 13 of the "New Best 50" large folio.

Exhibited: Milwaukee Art Museum "Currier & Ives: Best 50 Revisited," June 8 to September 16, 1990. The exhibition label is retained on the reverse of the frame.
