Transitional Cherry Sofa, late 18th or early 19th century, Connecticut, the serpentine crest above scrolled arms attached to a serpentine front rail on square tapering front legs which are attached to the raking rear legs by square stretchers, old refinish, (restored),ht. 42, seat ht. 17, lg. 80 in.

Literature: The Magazine Antiques, "Living with Antiques" by Alice Winchester describes Mowbra Hall in Scarsdale, New York pp. 515-522. This lot is pictured on p. 516 in the Mansfield parlor in Mowbra Hall, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Carpenter Jr.
