18kt Gold Hunting Case Pocket Watch, Tiffany & Co., white enamel dial with Arabic numeral indicators and subsidiary seconds dial, signed jeweled movement, no. 118713, engraved 18kt gold case with escutcheon, signed Mulford and Wendell Albany, inscribed "Samuel Beardsley", 18 size, suspended from a 14kt gold trace link chain, 99.9 dwt, lg. 14 in. Provenance: Descent in the family of the original owner, Samuel Beardsley (1790-1860),four times elected U.S. Representative for New York and last chief justice of the old Supreme Court. An accompanying biography details Beardsley's career as a Jacksonian democrat, distinguished judge, and philanthropist.
