William and Mary Walnut Burl Veneer and Tiger Maple Inlaid High Chest, Boston or North Shore, Massachusetts, 1700-30, the upper case with cornice molding over a bolection-molded document drawer above two small and three long drawers all of which are flush and have half-round molding surrounds; herringbone veneers outline the drawers and also divide the long drawers visually into two; the lower case consists of six small drawers with the same construction and embellishment over a cockbeaded deeply cut-out central skirt flanked by ogival arches which continue to the sides above six delicate trumpet-shaped legs on ogival arched flat tiger maple stretchers and flattened ball feet, original engraved brasses, old refinish, (repairs),ht. 67 1/2, overall wd. 41 1/4, case wd. 38, overall dp. 23, case dp. 21 1/2 in.
