N.B. The above is an original promotional illustration done for MGM Studios upon the release of their 1958 movie Run Silent, Run Deep. The illustration depicts one of the movies stars Burt Lancaster as submarine Lieutenant Jim Bledsoe. The film was an adaptation of Commander Edward L. Beach's novel of the same name, which was published in 1955. In his acknowledgements at the start of the book, Beach thanks Langello "for his help on weekends and late at night". The lot is accompanied by a copy of the book.
