Frigate Sailing the Straits of Bonifacio. Unsigned. Mixed media including watercolor and graphite on paper, sight size 12 x 17 3/4 in., in a molded gilt frame. Condition: Minor scattered abrasions and foxmarks, toning, not examined out of frame.

N.B. A label affixed to the reverse reads "H.M.S. Spartan. Capt. Sir Z- Brenton in the Straits of Bonifacio 1809." Lying in the channel between Corsica and Sardinia, the Straits of Bonifacio are known for fierce northwesterly winds alternating with periods of total calm.
