SHAW, GEORGE BERNARD (1856-1950) Autograph Letter Signed, c. 1914, one page, to Mr. Ian, commenting on the state of the theatre in London, the availability of his plays and his opinions on agents, producers and the like, "The Devil's Disciple is not available during the war, for obvious political reasons, nor after it until Faversham has finished with a long promised revival of it; but Jenny and all the other old potboilers are at the disposal of the repertory theatres...Unluckily Americans have an unalterable belief that when you want a play you must apply to everybody on earth except the author; and as I never let an agent touch anything but stock rights and amateur business, managers spend years complaining that they cannot get authorizations which they could obtain by return post from me," (burn loss lower left, some pencil inscriptions describing loss).
