Silk Needlework Mourning Picture, "Wrought by Mary J. Hennessey, of Waukesha Co. at St. Mary's Institute Milwaukee 1866," solidly stitched silk thread and watercolor on silk ground, the monument of lithographed silk ribbons inscribed, "in memory of Richard Hennessey who departed this life June 19, 1856," flanked by family members whose faces are photographic images, mounted in a mirrored shadow box, (minor imperfections to mirrored panels), 29 1/2 x 33 1/2 in. Note: A note on the reverse relates a brief history of the family.
