Pair of Iron Snake-form Andirons, 19th century, the heads with open mouths and projecting tongues on S-form bodies ending in coiled tails, bolted to log supports, (surface rust),ht. 19 3/4, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 21 1/2 in. N.B. These andirons were found in New York State. A related pair of wrought iron snakes, probably made by the same anonymous Smith, were found bolted to a farm gate in upstate New York.
