Consignment Days

Skinner hosts regular consignment days in their Marlborough, Miami, and New York offices. During these events Skinner appraisers from select departments are available to provide complimentary verbal auction evaluations. Learn more about specific consignment days here.

Lectures and Gallery Walks

Skinner appraisers share their expertise and promote interest in art and antiques by holding lectures and gallery walks at Skinner’s Boston and Marlborough galleries. Often hosted in conjunction with auction previews, guided gallery walks allow attendees to examine objects first-hand, and learn about what makes an item interesting, collectible, and valuable.

Appraisal Events

Appraisal Days and “What’s it Worth?” events provide cultural institutions and non-profit organizations with an entertaining educational experience for their membership or other select audience. During a “What’s it Worth?” event, a Skinner appraiser will discuss and evaluate an assortment of objects before an audience. During an Appraisal Day, participants meet individually with the Skinner appraiser and receive a verbal assessment of their material.

Benefit Auctions

Skinner auctioneers also participate in fund-raising auctions sponsored by non-profit organizations. In addition to presiding as auctioneer for these events, the Skinner auctioneer may also perform additional services such as event planning and logistics, allocation of the available material into sale lots, and sale-related “master of ceremonies” duties.
